The Biggest, Greatest Weekend in the History of PsyCare!

The second weekend in September marked the biggest deployment in PsyCare Ireland’s history, bringing our already impressive season to an incredible close.
We celebrated both our Fifth Anniversary of working together with Fuinneamh and our Fifth Birthday of PsyCare Ireland, and offered a full service at District X for the third year in a row.
632 people supported. 100 volunteers in the field. 3 welfare services running simultaneously across 2 festivals. 💚
Across Fuinneamh and two nights of District X, we supported 632 people through mental health distress, panic, overwhelm, difficult substance experiences, alcohol-related issues,
paranoia, k-holes, overstimulation, pre-existing mental health issues and interpersonal crises.
At District X, our under-18 service also helped dozens of young people get safely home or reunited with parents and guardians.
With 38,500 people combined attending the events across the weekend, we directly supported around 1.6% of the combined crowds.
And this is why those 632 people matter far beyond the number itself.
Each one has friends, partners or family members who can be relieved that someone was there when they needed help.
Each person who tells a friend about PsyCare spreads a little more understanding about harm reduction.
Every compassionate interaction challenges stigma.
Every person treated with dignity reinforces the idea that people experiencing mental distress or substance-related difficulties deserve care, not judgement.
We also handed out hundreds of harm reduction cards, spoke with hundreds more festival-goers and received an incredible amount of thanks and support.
Around 100 volunteers worked in the field, with many more helping behind the scenes. Now our wellbeing and integration teams will support the people who spent their weekend caring for people they've never met in distress.
No one goes to a festival planning to have a bad night. But difficult experiences happen, and they can happen to any of us.
