We were really happy to help out at the first ever IDPAT conference held in Trinity College Dublin at the end of October!
Irish Doctors for Psychedelic Assisted Therapy are a multidisciplinary group of doctors, researchers, psychotherapists, and healthcare professionals caring for patients in Ireland, who focus on the growing body of evidence for the effectiveness of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy in treating a range of disorders, and advocate for this therapy to be made a HSE funded, publicly available treatment.
The conference included leading experts Dr. David Erritzoe, Prof. Peter Hendricks, Dr. Roberta Murphy, Dr. David Luke, Timmy Davis, and Dr. Tuillaume Theury speaking through the day, along with a panel discussion and a opportunities for the 360 attendees to network and get to know one another. The focus of the conference was on exploring the current landscape of psychedelic research, discussing the latest evidence, and imagining a roadmap for the future of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy in Ireland.
A key focus in the research on Psychedelic Assisted Therapy is on providing safety and care, which happens to be a speciality of PsyCare Ireland! It was great to have to opportunity to have a poster highlighted at the conference which was based on the initial findings we have made from our service efforts in 2023. We were also delighted to have many of our volunteers on site for the day, and to meet and greet many new faces and introduce them to the work that we are doing. Spreading our mission, vision and research at events like this furthers our very purpose for existing; which is providing care and harm reduction to everyone affected by substance-induced crises in Ireland!
