This week marked an important milestone for PsyCare Ireland: Welfare and Harm Reduction CLG.
At the Otherside Festival, we completed our 30th festival deployment, bringing the number of people we have directly supported at events to over 1,400 individuals.
Alongside the festival team, we also shared this co-post highlighting recent HSE warnings about pink powders and crystals circulating ahead of St. Patrick’s weekend.
Information like this is important for festival communities to see – not to alarm people, but to help them make safer decisions and look out for one another.
What we continue to see across the sector is that festival promoters increasingly recognise their responsibility to their audiences. Creating a great event is not just about the music and production – it’s also about ensuring that the environment is safe, supportive, and prepared when things don’t go to plan.
By working together, promoters, welfare teams, medics, security and volunteers can create spaces where people feel comfortable asking for help, where harm reduction messages are visible, and where festivalgoers know that their wellbeing matters.
That collaboration is what allows PsyCare to do its work:
providing non-judgemental support, harm reduction guidance, and a calm space for anyone who needs it.
A huge thanks to the Otherside team for working with us to share these messages and for prioritising the welfare of their community.
Every step like this helps move the festival sector towards safer, more informed and more compassionate events.
